Born on 5 March 1959, Father Late. Shri Prem Singh Chouhan and Mother Smt. Sunderbai Chouhan. Married to Mrs. Sadhna Singh in the year 1992. Education up to Post Graduate (Philosophy) with Gold Medal. Student Union President of Model Higher Secondary School in 1975. Protesting the Emergency and detained in Bhopal Jail in 1976-77. Movements and jail visits to solve many public problems. Volunteer of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh since 1977.

In 1977-78, the organization minister of the All India Vidyarthi Parishad. From 1978 to 1980, he was joint minister of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Madhya Pradesh. State General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad from 1980 to 1982, Member of National Executive Council in 1982-83, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in 1984-85, Joint Secretary of Madhya Pradesh, General Secretary from 1985 to 1988 and Youth from 1988 to 1991. He was the state president of the Morcha.

Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Shri Chouhan became MLA for the first time in 1990 from Budhni assembly constituency. He became an MP for the first time in 1991 from the Vidisha parliamentary constituency.

Shri Chouhan became the Convener of All India Kesaria Vahini in 1991-92 and General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in 1992. Appointed State General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party from 1992 to 1994. He was a member of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Human Resource Development from 1992 to 1996, Labor and Welfare Committee from 1993 to 1996 and Hindi Salahkar Samiti from 1994 to 1996.

Shri Chouhan was re-elected to the 11th Lok Sabha in the year 1996 from Vidisha parliamentary constituency. As a Member of Parliament, in 1996-97, he was a member of Urban and Rural Development Committee, Consultative Committee of Human Resource Development Department and Urban and Rural Development Committee. Shri Chouhan was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha for the third time from the Vidisha parliamentary constituency in the year 1998. He was a member of the Estimates Committee in 1998-99. Shri Chouhan was elected MP from Vidisha for the fourth time in the year 1999 for the 13th Lok Sabha. He was a member of Committee on Agriculture in 1999-2000 and Member of Committee on Public Enterprises in the year 1999-2001.

He was the National President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha from 2000 to 2003. During this he was the President of the House Committee (Lok Sabha) and the National Secretary of BJP. Shri Chouhan was a member of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Communications from 2000 to 2004. Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan was elected member of 14th Lok Sabha from Vidisha for the fifth time. In the year 2004, Member of Joint Committee on Agriculture Committee, Offices of Profit, National General Secretary of BJP, Secretary of BJP Parliamentary Board, Secretary of Central Election Committee and Member of Committee on Ethics and Chairman of Housing Committee of Lok Sabha .

Shri Chouhan was appointed State President of Bharatiya Janata Party in the year 2005.

Shri Chouhan was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on 29 November 2005. In the election to the thirteenth assembly of the state, Shri Chouhan won the victory by discharging the role of star campaigner of the Bharatiya Janata Party. On 10 December 2008, Shri Chouhan was unanimously elected as the leader of the 143-member Bharatiya Janata Party's legislature party. Shri Chouhan took the oath of office and secrecy as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on 12 December 2008 at Jamboori Maidan in Bhopal. In the election of the Fourteenth Legislative Assembly of the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of Shri Chouhan won a thumping victory. Shri Chouhan was unanimously elected as its leader for the third time by the 165-member Bharatiya Janata Party's legislature party. Shri Chouhan took oath as the Chief Minister of the state for the third consecutive time on 14th December 2013 at Jamboori Maidan in Bhopal. Shri Chouhan was the Chief Minister till 16 December 2018.

Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan was elected as the Member of Legislative Assembly from Budhni Assembly Constituency in the December 2018 Vidhan Sabha elections. Shri Chouhan took oath as the 19th Chief Minister of the state on 23 March 2020.
